ESQUERITA - VINTAGE VOOLA (Norton 202) The earliest recordings by the master of lunacy, the Voola man himself! Eskew Reeder taught Little Richard and he'll learn you, too! Just open wide and say Woo--aaagh! All cuts from 1958 (2 with Blue Caps' Paul Peek)! Sorry, wig hat not included! No shrinkwarp.

Rockin' The Joint / This Thing Called Love / Please Come On Home / Oh Baby / Sarah Lee / I Got A Lot To Learn / What Was Wrong / Sweet Skinny Jenny / The Rock-A-Round

"Too brilliant, too insane, too raw, too uncivilized for the likes of Dick Clark." —Village Voice

Flip your wig cats with screaming, pumping, primal rock and roll. Blue Caps guitarist Paul Peeks rips it up! FULL pulitzer-worthy bio and pics on the back, puts a ribbon and bow on PERFECT record.

Exactly what I had hoped for, it has been on continuous rotation on my turntable since it arrived at my house.

Esquerita, shows us where Little Richard learned his moves . This is a great raw and rauccous rock & roll exorcism.

    Best & rawest Esquerita performances

Posted by Mike Cook on 4th Sep 2020

Of all his recordings this LP captures Esquerita's raw craziness the best. The fidelity isn't as high as his Capitol stuff but the moment where you hear his piano stool fall over with a loud clunk during "I Got A Lot To Learn" and he *keeps going* is one of my fave LOL moments in the whole history of rock and roll.
